REPLY 1997/ANSWER ME 1997
This is a drama that is sure to fill you up with nostalgia at the end especially the people who were teenagers back in the 1990s. Even though, I couldn't relate to the obsessive love of old kpop groups like H.O.T and  Sechs Kies, it still made me think of how memories really do accumulate and are actually beautiful things in the end even if you despised those memories then. It also kind of showed the start of kpop and how strong a fangirl's love for her idol truly can be. It was also very comedic, sweet, definitely a drama to remember. The friendships in this drama were cute and it showed how they grew from teenagers to adults they are today in the modern world.
Also, to the Inspirits out there, as you may already know Hoya was in this drama and I thought he did a magnificent job. It was also interesting because there were a few references to Infinite since Hoya was in the drama,  Tony from H.O.T also made a cameo in the drama since he played the member that our main lead loves so much, Eun Ji Won from Sechs Kies also played a character in this drama which was funny because the group Sechs Kies was also mentioned in the drama and a lot of the girls were all saying he looked like Eun Ji Won from Sechs  Kies. Not to mention, the girl his character is dating in the drama, was a big fan of Eun Ji Won. Interesting, huh?

Synopsis/Review:

This drama was a very comedic and sweet drama. It goes back and forth from present day and back to the 1990s where our main characters were teenagers. Back in the 1990s, idol groups were beginning to become extremely popular and the fans were very intense. They even formed fan battles between different groups such H.O.T fan clubs vs Sechs Kies fan clubs. This drama tells the story about six high school friends from a school in Busan. They had a reunion in 2012 and saw how each other had grown and lived their lives and it brought back a lot of memories in 1997 when they were still high school students.
The main character is played by  Jung Eun Ji from APink. She loves the boy band H.O.T and is obsessed with Tony. She even slept in front of his house in a cardboard box and jumped over a fence to knock his door to say hello and for him to sign her shirt. He was very annoyed when he saw her and told her to leave. She loved her idol so much she wasn't even angry at him for being so rude and even cried thinking that she had disturbed his rest. However, Tony called her back and signed her t-shirt making her extremely happy.
Other than being a extreme fan girl, she has a close relationship with her best guy friend Yoon Yoon  Jae. Yoon Yoon Jae likes Shi Won. Shi Won is extremely comedic as she constantly teases/bullies around Yoon Yoon Jae. He really likes her and tries to protect her and everything. There came a time when the two separated and he tried to lie saying that he already got a girlfriend. So, Shi Won calls her other guy friend (played by Hoya) and asks if Yoon Yoon Jae had a girlfriend. She nodded and looked at Yoon Jae and then said, "Okay," before hanging up. Yoon Yoon Jae immediately tried to cover up his lie saying that it was just like a friend and nothing more. Afterwards, he found out that the character played by  Hoya said that he did have a girlfriend to help cover him up but Yoon Jae was guilty of lying and let his secret out himself.
The two shared a close relationship after that and in the end Yoon Yoon Jae and Shi Won got together and they thought of the memories they shared with each other. They went from being childhood friends to high school friends and then to lovers. It was extremely cute how well they got together and it is a drama that is sure to make you smile.
